The fact that light can diffract and refract tells us that light behaves like a wave. We also learn from the concept of the photoelectric effect that light sometimes acts like a particle. In this activity, students will investigate the interaction of photons with metals and the resulting ejection of high-energy electrons and understand how solar-powered calculators work. This set of instructions will guide students in the implementation of this laboratory. The accompanying simulation can be found here: https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/photoelectric
